18 January 2012On Wednesday, January 18, 2012 there will be an online protest regarding the impending decision on the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA). Some websites will be shutting down out-right (Wikipedia, Reddit, WordPress, Imgur and many others) and there is some speculation that Google/YouTube, Mozilla and Facebook might be altering the functionality or appearance of their sites as well in some capacity. The protest is expected to take place roughly during the business hours of this one day and the sites are expected to resume their full functionality on Thursday, January 19, 2012.
